Traci Paxson has been working with children for over 29 years in a variety of capacities and settings. She graduated from UNC-CH in 1987 with a Master's in Speech/Language Pathology. For the last 17+ years she has worked within a sensori-motor framework, collaborating extensively with a variety of occupational therapists trained in sensory integration. This framework facilitates optimal alertness and engagement as the foundation on which targeted speech, language, and communication skills are modeled, taught, and practiced. She has training using Greenspan's DIR/Floortime Model, PROMPT*, and Therapeutic Listening. She co-facilitated summer social skills groups with occupational therapists for over 5 years. She has presented at the local and state levels in the areas of Speech/Language Development and Treatment within a Sensory Integration Framework. Her treatment focus is to follow and incoprorate a developmental approach to therapy, which has been a compatable approach for many families using Gutstein's RDI approach to treatment.
