Innovative Therapy is excited to offer social skills groups, following the format of Michelle Garcia Winner's Social Thinking curriculum. After a successful offering of these groups last spring and summer, social thinking groups will be extended in length for this coming summer. The groups will be offered for 8 week-10 weeks, depending upon the group. Groups may be considered for the spring if there is interest. If you are interested in a spring or summer group, please call Traci at 919-303-1755 to register, as space is limited.
Focus of the groups will be on improving your child's social thinking and behavior. These groups target those skills that are essential in helping children successfully engage with other children, such as how to: become more flexible thinkers, understand the perspectives of others, interpret the non-verbal cues of others, identify social break-downs and figure out how to repair them, learn from past experience, make and maintain friendships - be a successful social detective!
The groups (4 in a group) are offered for ages 4 thorugh 14, wtih grouping made according to age and compatability. Groups will meet once a week, for 8 - 10 weeks, depending upon the scheduling needs of the participating families. Eight week groups will be $320, which covers all eight sessions. Ten week groups will be $400, which covers ten sessions. A brief intake interview may be scheduled with the parents at a minimal fee preceding the start of each group for children who are new to the groups. Times and dates for summer groups will be posted by March 2011. Most likely, groups will run on Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday. Call with any questions.
